The Legendary Glades of Mont Giroux Est

Skiing between the hardwood trees, you’ll notice these glades are more open than those on Mont Orford. You can access the glades via the Magnum by following the ridge to the right – don’t miss the entry just before the pitch, it’s well hidden.

Seven options are available: The Labreque, Lacroix, Lloyd-Langlois and Nicolas-Fontaine trails are among those preferred by locals. The Labreque and Lacroix trails were named in honor of the two Olympic freestyle skiers from the ski station, and these trails will provide you with an experience you can talk about in the Slalom Pub at the end of the day! Rest assured, you can always take a break on one of the landings if you are out of breath.

Note : this is also the area you should use if the winds are strong on the main slope.

Among the Local Fauna on Mont Orford

The Passe de l’Ours, Chevreuil and Porc-Épic – ski these glades and experience what extreme skiing at Mont-Orford can be like.

Keep a lookout for the entry because it’s easy to miss. You’ll find the first access point just after the start of the 4 KM, on the left, which will take you to the Passe de l’Ours to the left or the Chevreuil to the right. Don’t worry if you miss the first entry – there is a second one just after on the left, which will take you to the Porc-Épic.

These three glades are where you’ll find most locals during a snowstorm. The magnificent view of Mont Giroux can be seen through the trees, so stop and enjoy it while you catch your breath.

The exit is soft in a large bowl-shaped clearing where the three trails meet, with a slope that offers you a breather

The Écureuil and Orignal: A Guaranteed Challenge

Look for the small openings on the right, just after the first pitch, at the top of the Grande Coulée to access these highly reputed glades. Narrow corridors with abrupt pitches and small cliffs make these trails exciting at every turn.

Ski one at a time on the trail and wait for your friends down below. These glades should be skied frequently so you can learn their topography by heart – this is the secret of those who impress you by skiing them at top speed!

Between turns, admire the snow-covered conifers that are part of the amazing landscape under a winter-blue sky. If your thighs are burning, take a break and use the opportunity to take a photo of the magnificent scenery!

For Children Looking for Excitement

The proudest moment for a parent is when their child follows them or even surpasses them in a sport. To teach them about glades in a calm setting, we recommend the Forêt Magique, the Lièvre (Mont Giroux) and the Boisé (Mont Orford).

They are also perfect for adults who are somewhat hesitant. After getting used to the turns between the trees, you can upgrade to the more challenging Arcade, and then you’ll be ready for the other legendary Mont-Orford glades in no time!

If you get tired of skiing the same trails or if you feel you’re not skilled enough for our more difficult trails or glades, talk to the ski school about taking a lesson with an instructor – you’ll improve your skiing ability and gain confidence.
